Day 59 - Wednesday, March 5th, 2025 – At Sea
Laying in bed waiting for the day to start, I said today I want to get stuff done. I wasn't sure at the time, but I knew there were things that needed to be done. Mary went to breakfast. I stayed in. For the next several hours I worked on the log, bills, and the beginning of getting stuff together for federal income tax. Yes, even though I'm in the middle of the Indian Ocean I need to worry about taxes. The biggest part of taxes is getting everything from the various sources. Because our Internet is hit and miss for the most part, some things take two minutes and others take 15 minutes. There's no rhyme or reason. Because of this variability, I want to take the time to get it done as soon as I can. I did this until 2:00 in the afternoon. I would have to say I was for the most part successful. There's never enough time. Somehow I was able to beat Mr. procrastination into the corner for several hours and I got things done. Now I have the battle of pushing him into the corner again at some point. That's the hard part.
Would you be surprised if I said we signed up for another wine tasting? Guess what? We did. This one was the Australian Wine tasting. There were maybe 20 some in the room. We sat around tables. We tasted 5 or 6 Australian wines. You always start with the white and then you work your way up to the Cabernet and then the dessert wine. Nothing different here. At 2:00 we went down to the dining room on six for Australian wine tasting. The clear winner was their Cabernet Sauvignon. Mary fell in love with it. It was a good wine. I found the real reason why Mary loved it. At restaurant prices it was $110 a bottle. Which means its street price it was around $50 a bottle. This is similar to Mary's other favorite, Jordan. It runs $50 a bottle at the street price. Even the dessert wine was pretty good. We do not have any other wine tastings on the calendar as of this writing but I'm sure that is not set in stone.
After the wine tasting, I went outside on 7 and pushed for a good 90 minutes or so. We decided to go to dinner a little late. We brought one of the bottles purchased a week ago or so earlier at the wine fair. It happened to be the pinot noir. For my appetizer I had crab and artichoke dip. We both had salad. Mary had beef stroganoff. From my entree I had something called Choucroute. It included a smoked pork steak, pork sausage, sauerkraut and steamed potatoes. I tried it because it's something I hadn't had before. I don’t eat a lot of pork for no reason. I could have had haddock or turkey, but the pork combination piqued my interest. We both had blueberry sorbet for dessert. It was really good. We finished dinner at almost 10:00. We decided to call it a day.
