Day 56 - Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 – At Sea
Zoran is the Crown grill restaurant manager. Mary asked him about the complaint thing we learned about the night before. And this is where it gets weird. It had something to do with me saying the soup was good up on 14 and then I would like it in the restaurants. I don't remember saying this, but I suppose it's possible. I don't know who picked up on the comment anyway. Somehow when I said that it was taken to be a complaint versus a possible suggestion. If you're confused, don't feel bad. I still don't completely get it. So, then it gets even a little more weird. Zoran decided that he's going to give me soup from the restaurants in our cabin that evening. Why? I'm not sure. At this point I am completely confused and just nod. Frankly, I wanted it to be over when we talked to the restaurant manager the night before, but my wife tends to push these things a little further than I would. This is not a complaint, just an observation. I think it is our personalities. I am more of a let it lay and she's more of a let's dig into it. After this interchange, we had a lighter than breakfast because we were going to an Irish pub pop up for lunch.
Every day at sea they have specialty pop-up restaurants in the crown grill and Sabatini’s. The Irish pub was called O'Malley's. It is a typical Irish fare like fish and chips, kidney pie, etcetera. We were told that the burgers were good so that's where we went. When we were looking at the menu, of course I wanted Guinness. Unfortunately, they were out. Everybody had already drunk up the Guinness. I went for a corona. That's kind of Irish, right? Separately, Mary noticed on the menu something called Jameson IPA. I told her it was a whiskey, but she wanted to try it anyway. As it turns out, it is Jameson whiskey that is aged in IPA barrels. It was good. It was more mellow than a typical Jameson. I didn't look at the alcohol content, but it was probably around the same. I don't know if I would buy it but it was an interesting thing to try.
I had the chopped salad for the appetizer. Mary had Irish onion soup. It was the same as French onion soup but it had a different cheese. She wasn't sure what the cheese was, but it was good. There were two burgers on the menu. Mary chose the O'Malley burger and I chose the Bushmill burger. They were both made with ground ribeye so they were excellent. As I write this, I forget what the exact differences were. Mine was supposed to have the whiskey in the burger. I'm not sure what made Mary's different. They were both excellent. Mary's came with two fried shrimp which she gave me. They were actually better than the burger because they were big and tasty. Our desserts were not that good so they were not noteworthy.
After lunch we went back to the room. We took micro naps. Around 4:00 we went outside. I pushed until 5:30. I needed to be back to the room by 6 because the soup was to be delivered. A little after 6:00 there was a knock on the door. Zoran had three bowls of black bean chowder delivered to our room. It was very good and I ate two of the three bowls. It was a lot of food.
There was still time to make it to the 730 show so we got our stuff together and went out the door. Of course there was a picture stop so we got some more pictures taken. At the Princess theater, thankfully, there was a spot open for us to sit. It was a little before 7:00 and most of the theater was already full. We ended up sitting next to these folks that we run into all the time Brenda and Rodney. The show itself was two different performers. The first guy was named Adam Marbury. He was the magician. If I can get the video to upload, Mary captured one of his tricks. Magic is one of those things that I'd like to know more about, but I'm afraid if I did it would take away the fun. If I knew how he did the trick I would no longer be interested in it. Plus, procrastination has helped me not research these types of things. I guess I like the surprise aspect. So he was on for about 40 minutes or so. He did two or three tricks.
The second performer was Daniel Thompson. If you remember, a few days ago we wanted to go see the Johnny Cash singer, but the theater was full by the time we got there. It turns out it was Daniel Thompson. For the next 40 minutes or so he sang Glen Campbell, John Denver, and Johnny Cash. I would have to say that he was very good. His Johnny Cash voice sounded just like Johnny Cash. He did one duet with a lady named Nina Ferro. She had a show one night that we didn't go to. Apparently she covered female artists like Aretha Franklin in her show. It's too bad we missed her because she was pretty good. But in this duet with Daniel Thompson, she sounded just like June Carter. Again, if I can get the video to upload you will see it. It was a very cool show. I'm glad we went.
After the show, we ran into a lady whose name I will not remember because it was difficult. It turns out she is the ADA compliance lady for Princess. The ship we were on went through major ADA changes. It was her job to come through and make sure that the changes were made the way they were intended to. I would have to say that this ship is very ADA compliant now. So for about an hour, we talked with this lady about the various aspects of ADA compliance. All of Princess ships are to go through these ADA improvements between now and 2027. It was very educational.
After talking with her we went back to the cabin. This completed another successful day.
