Day 61 - Friday, March 7th, 2025 – At Sea
Today started like most days. We went to breakfast. To shake things up a little, I decided to try poached eggs. They were actually pretty good. I will have to remember them in the future.
Like one day recently, I woke up and said today I've got to get some stuff accomplished. I wanted to see if I can get the majority of our tax related papers downloaded. I belong to an investment club and there are special forms that need to be filled out before April 15th. Because I never know exactly what that entails, I had to research it first before doing the actual process. That's what I did most of the morning after we returned from breakfast. Because our Internet has gotten slow as we approach Africa, downloading the 1099, etcetera took quite a while. I got most of them. I will have to go back and look. Mary will install the tax program, and we will create a tax return from there. We have an accountant friend who will do verification. We do the bulk of the work up front. I mentioned doing taxes to one of the guys around here he said he just files an extension. I thought about it, but if we are able to do it I'd rather be done. Delaying the pain is no fun. Of course, we will pay. We always pay. It's like the sun comes up in the east.
We played in the 1:30 tournament. Mary got knocked out early. Unfortunately, I made it long enough to be the bubble. It's the worst place to be. I don't remember exactly why, but obviously I did not get the cards needed to make it past the bubble. There's always the next tournament.
After the tournament, we went back to the world I did more work on the tax stuff. I learned that Mary is trying to take online classes so she can get her nursing licenses renewed. Apparently, you have to take some number of online classes for education. You need these education credits to get your licenses renewed. So, we did this till we got dressed for dinner.
It was a formal night. Thankfully, Mary did not make me wear a tie. I just wasn't in the mood. Mary looked good and black pants and a top. She curled her hair and put on a little makeup. You are familiar with the routine, you know where we went next. If you said pictures you win the prize. There were four or five picture stations. At each station you get three to five pictures taken. It takes about 30 – 45 minutes or more to get this accomplished.
Once we were seated at dinner, we finished off the bottle of wine we brought a couple of days earlier. For an appetizer I had the deviled eggs. That's the first time I've seen them on the menu. I like them. Mary and I both had salad. For my entree I decided on tuna steak. I was a little weary, but I decided to go for it. Mary had steak and lobster. I ate her lobster. My tuna steak was good. Lobster tail was good too. For dessert I had Baked Alaska. Mary had survey of some sort. Because it was the second to the last night of the cruise, they do their Baked Alaska parade. This is where all the waiters and the cook grab a Baked Alaska and paraded through the dining room. Mary got a video which I will try to upload. It was a very nice dinner.
We decided to go to the show. It was another magician. This one was different. I don't know if I would call him but magician as much as I would call him a mind reader. To oversimplify it was absolutely I don't know pick a number and I will guess it. It is crazy how we did it. Like I mentioned the last time we had a magician. I would love to know how they did it but that would take the surprise away. Then I would no longer be interested. Part of his act is he had a woman come up on stage and think of a song and artist. He told her to keep singing the lyrics in her head for maybe 2 minutes. He's writing something on this chalk board. When he's all done, he asked the lady what the song was you were singing. She said Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, He flips his board over and it says Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. I was floored. Most of his show was like that. I just don't understand how it could be done. It's obviously a trick involved. It's not like he's got some magical power. I understand that much. He was entertaining. I'm glad we went. Because it blew my mind we had to go to bed. Another successful day.
