Day 52 - Wednesday, February 26th, 2025 – At Sea
We slept a little longer this morning. I think we both had minor hangovers from the night before. Yes, you heard that right Mary had a hangover. She actually admitted it. We have not been rocking as much so that's been a good thing. That helps with sleeping too. By time we got up I had already decided that I was not going to go down to breakfast. Mary was going to go but then decided not to. Instead she had breakfast delivered to the room. There's a Princess app on our phone that is used for many things while on the ship. One of them is called concierge. You can basically have any type of food or drink delivered to wherever you are by simply going to the app and ordering it. We learned this from Tony yesterday. We thought we would try it out. Mary ordered her breakfast and got me a cup of coffee. It wasn't but about 15 minutes later it all showed up at the door. It worked out very nicely. So we had our breakfast.
Mary had an acupuncture appointment at 11:00. I stayed back and watched Netflix for an hour. When she came back from acupuncture, she entered us in the 1:30 poker tournament. A little after 1:00 we went down to the casino on six. Several of the now familiar faces were at the table. Mary got knocked out around 6th or 7th. I managed to hang in there and get second place. I had gone all in for 3rd place half a dozen times at least. I bluffed several times too. Using these strategies and being lucky, I was able to go from 5th to 2nd. 2nd place is $175 so I made 115. I'll take it any day. Mary and I agreed that we would play every other day.
I gave some thought to going out pushing after playing cards but it was already 4:00. It's only in the 60s and the wind on the side of the ship is pretty fierce. At the last minute I decided to come back up to the cabin. I will push tomorrow while Mary is at her hair appointment. I continued watching my Netflix series. Mary took a micro now after going through her mail. It wasn't long and it was 530. We headed down to the 5th floor to go to dinner. I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, Which I did not finish. For my appetizer I had what was called Alaskan Stew. It was fish, scallops and who knows what else in the tomato base. It was really good. They had a three bean cassoulet. I like beans, so I tried the appetizer size of it. Who can go wrong with kidney beans, white beans and red beans in a tomato sauce with cheese? Mary hates beans so I knew I would not have to share. For my main entree I had fried sole. It's kind of hard to ruined fish, but they managed to do it this time. Sole doesn't need to be fried. Mary had the salad times 2. For her entree she had a baked chicken dish. I mentioned it smelled really good. She said it tasted good. Mary had watermelon sorbet for dessert. I ordered gouda and brie but I did not eat all of it. I was full. We wanted to get to the 7:30 so we bolted out of there a little before 7:00.
The guy's name was Aiden Soon. In the Princess Patter he was listed as an instrumentalist. On screen he was listed as a world top harmonica player. And for 45 minutes he played the harmonica in 5 or 6 instrumental songs. It was kind of interesting to hear the sounds that the harmonica can make. I'm familiar with like Blues harmonica but this was something way different. I will have to see if Mary videoed any of it. It gave us exposure to something new. We headed back to the cabin. Mary continued to work on her mail and started to read her book before I found her sleeping in the bed. I will go in a little while, because we move the clocks back another hour tonight. If I stay up and hour that means it'll be 1 less hour for me to stare at the ceiling. Another at sea day ahead of us.
