Day 55 - Saturday, March 1st, 2025 – At Sea
As I write this, I am a few days behind so some of these entries may be brief. We have had several days at sea with only one stop, so we are in a routine for the most part. I will try my best to give you the details where necessary. Once I'm caught up, things will be better. Anyway, here we go again.
Saturday was another day at sea. We had decided to play in the 10:00 tournaments so we had to get the breakfast quickly. We got there about 9:15 and we were done with breakfast by 9:45. That's quick for a dining room breakfast. Thankfully, the team at the restaurant was very helpful in making us on time.
I don't know why we were in such a hurry Because I finished 10th out of 10. Mary did better, she got out about six. I don't remember why, but I got knocked out early. That's how it goes sometimes. We were OK because we had decided we were going to play in the 1:30 tournament anyway. So, we went back to the room for an hour before coming back downstairs to play again. This time I did much better. I got in the money. That is, I got third, which was $75. I don't remember now where Mary ended up but obviously outside the money. It's always a good thing when you win. One of these days I will win first. It's just a matter of time.
The temperatures were in the 70s and low 80s so it's been much nicer to go outside. Also, the ship is not rocking so much. This makes it great for pushing. That's what I did after playing poker. I was out there for about an hour or so. You run into many of the same people walking. We cheer each other on. It could be chaotic at times. You have the people who must be training for an Olympic event and the couple who are out for a stroll in the sun. Then you have people going in the opposite direction. Sometimes it's just fun to watch. Mary went to the gym to do her treadmill for 30 minutes. When she came back, we went back up to the room.
We headed to dinner. We both have the chicken tortellini soup. It was very good. Mary had her salad times two. And for her main dinner she had the Alfredo pasta with chicken. For my appetizer I had Oyster Rockefeller. It is similar to escargot, but they have chunks of oyster. For my main meal I had veal Kiev. There were a couple of fish dishes On the menu, but I decided to go with the veal Kiev. Typically I'm not a friend of veal, but I decided that the cheese and ham and breading would overpower the taste of the veal. I was right. And then I thought to myself you could probably make liver Kiev no one would know the difference. Everything else would overpower the taste of liver - I actually like liver so it might be a good combination for me. Anyway, overall, it was a very good dinner.
What I'm about to explain still does not make complete sense to me. I don't think it makes complete sense to anyone, but I wanted to note it. When we were at dinner, Rafael, the restaurant manager came up to us and said did we make a complaint about someone in the crown grill? Mary and I both said no. We were trying to figure out where it came from. We were hanging out side of the crown grill talking to Tony and Corinne that night but we didn't say anything negative about anything. So we kind of left it at that. Scratching our head though.
Another day completed. It was a good one too.
