Day 28 - Sunday, February 2, 2025 - At Sea
Yesterday we learned that there is a 1:00 poker tournament. We got up and headed down to the casino to put our name on the list for the 1:00 tournament. We were the first two on the list. So, we were finally going to play cards. After putting our name on the list we went up to breakfast. Breakfast was breakfast. I originally typed "nothing special", but then I remembered we talked with the captain of the ship. He came over to our table. Mary explained how we wanted to miss February 1st for my birthday. He was a funny guy. Very personable.
After breakfast I went out on 7 and pushed for about an hour and a half. Mary did some chasing and then she went and did her 30 minutes on the bicycle. I got in a little less than 3000 pushes. We're about 1000 miles north of Fiji. For the most part, the ship is very calm. It's about 80° though with minimal wind. It's perfect for pushing or being outside in general.
After pushing, Mary and I came upstairs. We did this and that until about 12:30. We went and played cards in the tournament. There are 10 people in the tournament because there's only ten spots on the electronic table. Mary ran into a straight versus flush nightmare for her. This nearly knocked her out early. She recovered pretty well, but she didn't make it to the end. I made it to 3rd place so I made $75, actually $15. I got a 9 High straight flush so I almost tripled up. That was enough to keep me afloat for a while. It was fun. And I did well. It was just fun to play cards again. After playing cards, we came back upstairs. I had a Tiger beer from Singapore (nothing special) and a few pretzel rods. That was my afternoon snack. We're going to chill again because we have another Italian dinner tonight.
The dinner was very similar to the dinner we had a couple of weeks ago which discussed the wines of Caymus. It was the same menu but I chose different options. Mary and I both had the beef carpaccio in the beef tenderloin. There were other courses that were fixed like the risotto. I included the picture of the menu below. We set next to the same couple we set with last time. His name is Mark. Her name is something like Teresa. They were nice couple. We might meet with them for dinner somewhere down the road. Other than that, it was too much food and too much wine. The dinner took about 3 hours so we were home by 9:00 or so. We need a couple of days to dry out. This end is another successful day at sea.
