Day 93 - Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 – Taranto, Italy
Still playing catch up so I'm working from notes that I took more than a week ago. Actually, as I read these they are notes that I took from Mary because she's the one who went into town. I decided to stay in because the wind was crazy. Is a right this, I don't remember exactly what I did all morning long. I probably played cards. I probably worked on the log a little bit. So, what follows is really Mary story of what she did while on shore.
As she describes it, she got off the ship and started to walk. And then she walks some more. She did this for more than an hour. She said she stayed on one path so she would not get washed if she had to turn around. At one point she walked into a town square where she noticed a tourist information place. She walked in there and found that there was a tour guide that would take her around the city in this little motorbike/bus thing. The tour guide’s name was Sarah. Sarah took Mary around the city for more than an hour. She saw all kinds of things that you would expect in an old European town. I will let the pictures do the talking. Of course she was able to go to the T-shirts, refrigerator magnet, postcards and stamps. She enjoyed traveling around in the makeshift bus. The nice thing was Sarah was able to drop Mary right at the cruise ship terminal, so Mary did not have to walk the miles back from the center of town.
She made it back to the ship around 3:00. I was getting a little concerned because she was bumping up against the time that we needed to be on the ship. She made it. Once on the ship, she showed me everything that she obtained on her journey. We then chilled out for a couple of hours. I don't remember, but she may have taken a nap. She said she walked like 10,000 steps.
We got cleaned up and went to dinner. I had salad, bean soup and chicken pasta. That was just my appetizers. For my entree I had a cod dish that was very good. You have very nice job with their fish dishes. For dessert, Mary had pina colada sorbet. I do not remember what I had for dessert.
After dinner, we must have gone back to the cabin. It had been a long day for Mary so I'm pretty sure we probably went to bed shortly thereafter. Another successful day. This one was all Mary though.
