Day 91 - Sunday, April 6th, 2025 – Corfu, Greece
Hopefully you are saying Corfu? That's not on the itinerary. You are right. Friday, after we got back from our tour, the captain announced that we would not be going into the Adriatic Sea because of the weather. This meant that Montenegro and Croatia were off the list. Instead, he would be going to two different Greek islands - Corfu and Argostoli. Today is Corfu. Tomorrow is Argostoli. On Friday when we heard about the change, I contacted Sage because they do have tours for both of these places. Unfortunately, it was Friday later in the afternoon, and I had no hopes of getting any traction on them because of the lateness of the day. My initial reply to Sage came back with they can't help us. Then, later Mary received an e-mail saying that they could probably get us on a tour for Monday in Argostoli. So today, for me I will stay in the room. As it turns out, Corfu doesn't have any accessible shuttles. That's OK, I've spent the day trying to catch up on this log. I'm getting closer because I'm working on the entry for today on today. That's a good sign. There are some gaps in the days leading up to today, but hopefully when Mary gets back, I can fill in those gaps using her memory because my memory is empty at this point.
We got up a little later. Later, as in even Mary could not go to breakfast because it was too late. I decided I did not want breakfast, so Mary went up to 14 on her own. She came back about 1/2 hour later. She got me a cup of Americano and the hash brown. That was my breakfast. She said she had a bagel upstairs. I was already working on my log. GD came in about 11:30 to clean the room period at that point I switched to working on the puzzles. The Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle is not the most difficult, but it is the largest and usually takes the most amount of time. Today was no exception. He took me about an hour and 20 minutes. With that done, I switched to portal and connections. These are also New York Times games. Mary and I play these to see who does better. More often than not Mary does Wardle quicker than I do and vice versa for connections. I was working on the puzzles when Mary came back. She decided she was going to go into town by herself. That was a good thing because then I could work on my log without interruptions. I should say interruptions from Mary. I'm very good at creating my own interruptions. You may remember my best friend Mr. procrastination, right? Honestly, I've been pretty good today so beyond the 20-minute nap that snuck in here a little while ago I've been pretty good. Just ask me.
Mary packed up her stuff a little before noon.
It was about 2:30 before she got back. She told me all about her adventure. Earlier, she had called and said that she had slipped period now I figured out exactly how bad it was. She got a Boo Boo on her elbow. She did something to her foot, but it seems to be fine. I will continue to pester her about it to make sure it is fine but I will trust her. She captured a lot of pictures. Apparently there was an old Fort that she walked up to and back. I got the whole story about the hop on and hop off bus, but I don't remember the details now. Don't tell her that I don't know this because she just told me. She had a good time. Me, on the other hand, was slaving away at the keyboard all day to make sure my readers were happy. See how I shifted the blame? I can do this because you are probably 5000 miles away or more at this point. 😊
Mary took a nap while I tried to figure out the pictures from a previous day. It wasn't long before it was 530 and we agreed to go to dinner at 5:15. Mary happened to be awake so I went into the bathroom and shaved. Mary put on long pants and we were ready to go to dinner by 6:00. We made our way over to 5 where there with dinner.
For dinner I had oysters Rockefeller for my appetizer. I had salad. For my entree I had fish stew which included sea bass and mussels. Mary had chicken soup and the pasta for dinner. We both skipped dessert. We bought a bottle of county that we purchased earlier through dinner. It was OK, but it's obvious it needed some time on the shelf to age a little longer.
After dinner, we made it back to the room. We sat at our respective computers and did this and that until 9:30 when we called it a day. It had been a very successful day for both of us in different directions. I could bore the hell out of you by showing you pictures of me at my desk, but I think you would prefer to see the pictures of Mary wandering the island of Corfu.
