Day 92 - Monday, April 7th, 2025 – At Sea
For those of you that have been watching for a while you know that I am way behind in these entries. I have the notes for almost all the days so that should go quicker, but I'm not there yet. Please forgive me.
If you remember, we were supposed to go to another island in the Greek Isles. Some research I just did says that the island is called Kefalonia, and the city is called Argostoli. None of that actually matters because we did not stop there. I do not remember the exact reason, but the captain came on and said that this would be an at sea day. If you remember, we had a tour scheduled for this stop. It was that last minute excursion that Sage travel was able to help us with. So as soon as the captain said we weren't going there, we contacted the tour operator. We told him we would not be going there. We then sent a note to sage travel and let them know. Although it didn't matter because they weren't at work yet.
We decided to stay in bed for a little longer. I don't remember what we did up until we decided to play cards at the 2:00 tournament. I don't remember what we did for breakfast, if anything. So, I will cut to the chase and tell you that I got second place and Mary was the bubble. This added a nice $175 to my growing pile. Well, pile might be a little bit of an exaggeration. Think anthill at this point.
After we played cards, we went back to the room. again, We probably took naps. The one thing I know I did not do was work on the log. I know, I know, I'm catching up, ever so slowly.
We cleaned up and went to dinner. Mary had salad and chicken soup. For her entree she had tandoor chicken. She said she liked it. In the real world, tandoor chicken should be spicy but hers was not that spicy.
I had salad and vegetable spring rolls. For my entree I had trout which was excellent.
It has been so long since I started this blog I don't know if I talked about this or not. When we decided to go on this trip it was because it included a specials package. This meant it included free Wi-Fi, free drinks, etcetera. One of these extras was a specials dessert menu every day. I don't remember exactly how much it would cost but it was not cheap. One day we were at the front desk and Mary asked about it. There we learned that the dining room should have a special dessert menu. So when it came to the dessert on this particular night, Mary asked Sirocco, our waiter, about it. He says that it is special cakes. Every night it happens to be a big piece of Black Forest cake or red velvet cake. Because we were interested, I ordered the Black Forest cake and Mary ordered the red velvet cake. What came out were huge slices of cake. Each piece had to be about 8 inches tall maybe an inch and a half thick at the thick end. There was no way you could eat an entire piece or if you did you would be sick. Unfortunately, despite the size they were just OK. They were not special in my mind except for the size. Anyway, lesson learned. I don't think we will be doing that in the future. They did say that the special dessert on 14 in the horizon court is a huge ice cream sundae. We may check that out one day.
That completes another successful day. I think I got the basics in. Apologies for the lateness.
