Day 90 - Saturday, April 5th, 2025 – At Sea
After six days of touring, an At Sea day was much needed. We got up a little later. I decided I do not want breakfast. Mary ran down to six in the casino a little before 10:00 to put my name on the list. I was #9 on the list to play in the tournament at 11. This worked out OK because Mary had an acupuncture appointment at 11. In hindsight, I guess we skipped breakfast. I didn't think about that till just now. Anyway, near 11:00, Mary put me up at the poker table. She got me pretty much set up and then she went on her way to her appointment.
It was an odd tournament. Within the first 15 minutes, four of the nine players were gone. It was another 15 minutes and we were down to four people. Thankfully, I was one of the four. I ended up knocking #4 out so there are three of us. Within about 40 minutes from starting, we are down to three players. Unfortunately, I have the low stack but at least I'm still alive and it was in the morning. The other two had stacks that were tripled the size of mine, but they were both aggressive so I was hoping one would knock out the other. It was about 10 minutes later or maybe eight hands later when Linda went all in with pocket aces are you Mark called with something less until we saw the flop. He flopped 2 pair and her pocket aces were no good anymore. She was gone. Suddenly, I was in 2nd place. I decided the only way to get him was to go all in every time. It worked the first time, but the second time he had a better starting hand and ultimately beat me. I didn't mind 2nd place. It was about $160.00 in my pocket.
We made our way upstairs. Mary had a 330 nail appointment and it was nearly that time already. We went to the cabin and sat there until Mary had a 3:30 appointment. I stayed in the room and worked on the log. I'm making progress on catching up, but they I have a ways to go.
I forgot to mention that it was formal night. Mary and I decided not to get dressed up. Soon Mary came back to the cabin. We decided to go to 14 for dinner. On the way there we ran into a picture station. So there are pictures of us that border on ugly. I have not shaved in two days. I'm not even sure my hair was combed. Mary's hair was not curled. I have not seen the pictures, but I'm assuming they are not the best. Or, who knows maybe they're the best because they are closest to reality. 😊
On 14 they were having German food as their specialty. I found a pork sausage, braised red cabbage, German potato salad and sauerkraut. Somewhat surprisingly, they were all very good. I was happy I went down that road. Mary brought me a couple of pieces of bread that looked like pretzels. With a little butter they tasted good. I found the piece of dark chocolate cake which turned out to be not so good. I also saw a strawberry filled doughnut. Of course I ate all of that. Mary had a piece of Yorkshire pudding and sauce. She said it was very good. We sat up there for a few minutes because it was near 9:00.
We walked down to six, where the jewelry store was doing their 9:00 raffle. I don't know the details, but so far Mary has gone every night and has won nothing. It doesn't bother me if she wants to go at 9:00. So, she goes in the jewelry store and I hang out outside. It isn't long and she comes out empty handed. The casino is right next door, so she buys her 11:00 lottery tickets. From there we head to the room. It was another successful day.
