Day 73 - Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 – Day at Sea
Today is our last day at sea for a while. I'm going through this as good or bad. It would be good to get out land for a while. Seven days went by quick, but it still has been seven days.
We went to breakfast. I had my poached eggs and English muffin. I had a cup of coffee. Or I should say I tried a cup of coffee. It was burnt. Mary had fruit and a bagel. Of course she had her tea. We sat there and did the puzzles. I thought I screwed up and had not finished yesterday's puzzle. I looked and thankfully the crossword puzzle was done. My New York Times crossword puzzles streak is near 150 days. I wanna keep that alive as much as possible.
After breakfast I went outside and attempted to push. The wind is very strong and the boat is very rocky. I was out there for an hour, but I did not get a whole lot of pushing done. It was just too much to fight the wind and rocking.
Because we wanted to play the 130 tournament, we had to go to the casino and wait until 12:30 to put our names on the list. We're sat in the casino for about 30 minutes. We were talking to other poker players and the casino host. To pass the time a little bit, I started listening to my new book. I finished the networking book. My head still hurts a little. I will have to go back and we listen to it at some point. It was a good book. It was just a lot to take in. My new book is by Malcolm Gladwell. It is called The Bomber Mafia. I've read a lot of Gladwell’s books. Actually, I think I can say I've read all of these books. Most of his books are on social psychology. This one is more history related. It's only 5 hours long so it'll go quick. I am already Interested in it.
We got our names on the list and we went back to the cabin. I worked on the log for a little while. I have a new challenge with the website. As if pictures were enough of a pain, the website building software I'm using does not support one of the picture types that Mary's camera can produce. Thankfully there are only a handful of pictures in this new format so I will have to download them, convert them and then put them up on the website. The things I have to do for my readers. 😊
A little after 1:00, we went down to the casino. We played cards for the next two hours or so. Mary was the bubble again. I think she's been the bubble 3 or 4 times recently. I on the other hand, came in second place. I must have near $600 in my poker account. It's $60.00 each tournament that is 10 tournaments that I can play for free. Hopefully I will win a few more.
We sat in the room until 5:30 when we decided to go to dinner. The intent was to get through dinner so we could go to the show.
At dinner, for my appetizer I had something called Vol-Au-Vent, which was a puff pastry filled with lobster and shrimp. It was very good. I had salad. For my entree, I had the trout in almondine which was excellent. Mary had bruschetta and pan fried chicken. It was a very good dinner.
We made it to the show on time. It was the same piano player/guitar player from the other night – Bayliss. He played different songs. This time it seemed to be more Billy Joel and Beatles related. It was a good show. I will post a couple videos. I think I've said it before, but the Princess players band is excellent. They support the main act very well. They have a nice guitar player who knows his stuff. They have a Alto sax player that is amazing too. The show lasted 45 minutes. We headed back to the cabin. It had been another successful day.
