Day 75 - Friday, March 21st, 2025 – At Sea
We decided to try to get an early start. Our goal was to be down at the casino by 930. We were there shortly thereafter. We put our names in to play cards at 11. We were #3 and #4. After our names were put on the list, we went up to breakfast. I tried something different. I had a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Which was pretty good. I had my poached eggs in case I didn't like the sandwich. I ended up eating both. Mary had her fruit and tea. It was a nice, but quick breakfast.
We played cards at 11:00. Unfortunately, I ran into trouble early and was not able to recover. Thankfully, Mary made third place. It's good when one of us gets in the money. After we played cards, we came back up to the cabin. It is too rocky and windy to go pushing. Once we were in the room, we do this and that until we have to go to the Captain's Cocktail party at 5:00. I played cards on poker stars. Mary has already begun work on her T-shirt quilt. We both took naps. Before long it was 4:00. I had to shave. Mary had to get cleaned up too.
We went down to the explorer’s lounge. By the time we got there, there were only a few seats available. We sat through the 20 minute presentation. They introduced the people with the most number of days. There was one couple that had 2700 days on Princess ships. If you do the division, that is about seven years on Princess ships. That is beyond crazy. I think I calculated our days and it only works out to be about seven months.
We were seated in the back of the Explorer’s Lounge It must be where they stored the meat because it was like a meat locker. It was so cold. Mary and I both put our jackets on. I grabbed a drink which happened to be a gin and lime. It was pretty good. Mary asked for Diet Coke from two or three people and then ended up with three diet cokes. We sat through the short presentation. The captain seems to be a nice guy. We've not met him directly yet. The time will come. From there we headed to dinner.
We had just started our salad when Dan and Lorna decided to sit with us. For my entrée I had scallops and shrimp. We both had the pasta the restaurant manager was making. We liked it. Mary had chicken parmesan for her entree. It must have been good. She ate it all.
We talked with Dan and Lorna for better part of an hour. We learned a lot about them. They are from Michigan. She is a travel agent, for lack of a better term. He is a defense attorney. They own a home right on lake MI. They spend their time in Grand Rapids and then in their one bedroom condo. They go back and forth. They are a nice couple. It was nice to spend time with them.
Mary and I decided to skip the show. We came back to the cabin. I am working on my log as I type this. Mary is over at her desk doing whatever Mary does. She was working on her T-shirts. I think you could say it was a successful, but quiet day.
