Day 65 - Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 – At Sea
There are two reasons why this entry should be short. The first is I'm a few days behind so I'm trying to catch up. The second reason is that nothing really special happened here. We are two months into this project and some days are just boring. The only things special that happened this day were word language related. As in funny language related. The first is Mary has been trying to teach me to say Namibia for a week. I don't care how hard I try I cannot get it to come out right. Every time I do manage to get it out the next time it comes out completely different. I just have a mental block of some sort, I guess. The second funny thing that happened at dinner tonight was you're trying to teach Silvio, the head restaurant manager, how to say “ribs”. We ran into him at the restaurant before we placed our order. He came over and recommended the “crubs” in his heavy Italian accent. Neither Mary nor I understood what he was talking about, so we had him repeat it. I think when he repeated it it was even further from “ribs”, so one of the Filipino waiters comes over and says he's saying “ribs”. For the next 5 to 10 minutes Mary tries to teach Silvio how to say ribs. Laughing harder is he got his lessons. I'm not sure he thought it was as funny as we did but it was all in fun. He just could not get it. Like me, I think he has a mental block on certain words. His is ribs and mine is Namibia.
Today was straightforward. Mary went to breakfast. I stayed back. I think I spent the morning watching Netflix again. I definitely did not do the log because now I'm days behind. I hope you will be happy with some of the upcoming entries. They're more exciting than this one.
We played cards at the 1:30 tournament. If I remember correctly, I bubbled. Mary made it a little further than me, but not into the money. That was no fun. Afterwards, I went out and pushed. I'm not exactly sure what Mary did while I was out there, but I pushed for a couple of hours. The weather has been perfect. The sea has been calm enough for me to push without fighting the rocking of the ship.
We went to dinner. It was so uneventful except for the whole “ribs” teaching event, that I don't even remember what we ate at this point. I know that I switched to a bourbon Manhattan from wine. I do not remember what we ate for dinner. I also do not remember what happened after dinner. I gotta get better at keeping notes. It's only been a couple of nights so if it was memorable I would have remembered it. Must not have been. Successful but boring day complete.
