Day 7 - Saturday, January 11, 2025 – At Sea
We got up a little later than normal period we were both up by 9:30 or so. We decided to go up to 14 for a light breakfast. I had oatmeal and coffee. Mary had fruit and tea. We set up on 14 for about an hour. We worked on the puzzles.
We came back down, and I worked on the log and tried other ideas for pictures. The experiments continue unfortunately. At noon, we thought we would have pizza for lunch, but the pizza place was closed for a private event. The other restaurant was called The Salty Dog. I’m not sure why. I had grilled cheese and tomato soup. There was a weird cheese in the grilled cheese, so the sandwich was weird. It takes effort to screw up a grilled cheese sandwich, right? The soup was good though. Mary had a fried chicken sandwich that she liked. I had an espresso mousse and two donut holes, which was good. I forgot what Mary had.
While we were waiting for our food, Tony and his very animated with whose names starts with a C (d0 we get partial credit because we remembered the first letter?), walked by. We met them the first night at the Cruise Specialist’s dinner. They’re going around the world to. Today, they were going to the art auction. They, too, have collected some art, so we spent a few minutes showing each other our collections. We’re beginners compared to them. In the “small word” category, we were at the same art event in Orlando in August.
Because lunch took so long, Mary had to reschedule her acupuncture appointment. We went to 7 where I pushed for about 70 minutes . . . alright, it was 50 minutes pushing with a 20 minute nap in the sun, warmth and slight rocking of the ship – perfect nap recipe.
Mary returned and we went to the 4:00 Quiz game in the Wheelhouse Bar. We started strong, finished poorly. Twenty questions and we got nine right. Below is a sample. One team got 19, but most were in the 9 – 12 right range.
- Sultan something tallest man alive was born where? We said India. Turkey
- Tallest grass? We said wheat. Bamboo
- Freddy Mercury’s real name? We said NFI (no f’ng idea). Farouk Balasar or something like that.
- How many time zones does Russia have? We said 9. 11
aWe came back to the room. I typed. Mary napped. Or should I say Mary fell into a coma? I woke her up about 40 minutes later period we cleaned up and went upstairs to 14 we did not wanna go through the restaurant because we did not want a full meal. We made our way up to 14 to the horizon court where they do the buffet food. It just so happens they have the poke station setup. If you're not familiar with this, it is basically a sushi bowl. I had to work, salmon and little shrimp with my rice and a bunch of vegetables. I ate this first. It was very good. They did not have a lot of rice which was very good calorie wise. I thought I was done but going through the buffet you always see things that you wanna try. So while Mary was eating her salad, I went back and I found the turkey and pea thing That looked good. They also had a little glass cup filled with sorry, cucumber and carrots. One of the many helpers up there brought these items back to our table. Mary went back for the mishmash of little things. Of course in the mishmash were a few cookies. She did not eat them at that point, she brought them back to the room where I ended up eating half of them. I was kind of impressed with the buffet. My experience in the past has been the buffet is second class, but I can see us going up to the buffet for real dinner.
By the time we got done with dinner it was almost time to go down to the casino. We wanted to try to get in the 8:00 1/2 Hold em game. We got there a little before 8:00 and there was one guy. He says it really doesn't get started until 8:30. So we sat there and all of a sudden other people showed up. We then played poker until a little after 10:00. There was an hour time change overnight so we felt we could play for an hour more. So we played for about 90 minutes. I came home with more money that I left with. Mary has a different atale, so that's her story to tell. We came upstairs and went to bed. It was the end of another successful day.
