Day 2 - Monday, January 6, 2025
We slept pretty well. Mary was up at 8:00 like normal. She had me up by 9:00. Our morning routine is very much like it is at home. I shaved and we left. We wanted to go to Sabatini’s for breakfast. Apparently, Sabatini’s is only allowed for suite members. The maitre-d' set a set of table right away. He was overly friendly. As is everybody so far. I decided to have coffee. It was not a good decision because the coffee was Funky, but I’ll survive. I decided to try something new. Musli, I think it is cold oatmeal from Norway or something like that. It tasted good. I also had a smoked salmon bagel. That was good also. Mary had a cheese omelette and tea.
After breakfast, we went upstairs. I worked on this document for a couple of hours. Mary was still unpacking stuff. I think we both took micro naps.
Mary had an appointment with the acupuncture guy. So, I decided to go outside and push on seven. The seventh floor as a deck wrapped around the outside. It varies in width, but it is enough for me to push. There are always several people out here walking. They also have deck chairs if you want to lie in the sun. I push for about an hour and half. It felt good. With the wind in the rocking of the ship, it is not as easy as pushing in the pavilion, but I like it a lot.
Mary met me at seven after her appointment. We went back upstairs. We got cleaned up and went to dinner around 5 o’clock. We decided to go to the general dining room. Bordeaux is its name. It is on the fifth floor on the other end of the trip. We made our way there only to find that there were long lines to get into the restaurant. One line with the reservations and the other reservations. We tried to make reservations earlier in the day but they failed. We got in the no reservations line. We stood there for about an hour. We made some progress, then a lady walked up. Because we are suite members we didn’t have to wait in the line. We were escorted to a table in a special area of the dining room. We ate alone. The assistant was from India. He has two kids. They’re nine and 11 years old. He will be on the trip with us the entire way so we will run into again and again. I ordered a glass of red wine, but they didn’t have it. Instead, they gave me some other red swine, which was pretty good. Of course, Mary had tea. I need to keep some roughage in my diet so I had Caesar salad. I wanted to try the cheese souffle so I ordered that. For my main meal I had fish stew. The waiter suggested that I tried the sauté shrimp. It was a small appetizer of about six shrimp that we sauté very nicely. Mary had salad and a Cornish hen meal. For the next hour, we ate through our courses of food. It was all very good. Portion sizes seem to be average or smaller so that helps. I am somewhat conscious of the calories. You can only do this so much though. For dessert I had cherries jubilee. Mary had some chocolate pudding dessert. It was a little after 9 o’clock when we left the dining room. We decided to go to the casino to check out the poker table. There were about five people playing. We decided to go upstairs and call it a night.
I imagine this is how many of the days are going to go. I’m gonna be out on 7 and Mary will be out doing whatever she’s doing.
